WWE has started changing itself in several ways ever since it came under the TKO Group. In a piece of breaking news, AJPW (All Japan Pro Wrestling) announced their partnership with WWE, which seemingly opens the “Forbidden Door.” In relation to that, wrestling veteran William Regal has announced his son, Charlie Dempsey, will represent NXT in the Triple Crown Championship match.

The video starts with Regal talking about his time in Japan. He also recalled the great talent with which he wrestled through the years. Regal discussed the uniqueness of European Lancashire-style wrestling and how he continued its legacy. He expressed his elation over his son’s willingness to continue the same and how he’d prove his mantle in Japan.

Now I'm sending to you, what I consider the best upcoming wrestler of the old traditional European Lancashire style to All Japan Pro Wrestling. That is, Charlie Dempsey. This is the first time I'm telling people about Dempsey, he's my son. He'll show how good he is and how the tradition of European wrestling continues.

Before coming to NXT, Charlie Dempsey had made his mark in NXT UK. Also, he has continued to do so in NXT alongside Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp, and Myles Borne in the No Quarter Catch Crew. Fans are excited to see how young Dempsey is going to utilize such a big opportunity. On the other hand, the Forbidden Door talks were last seen earlier this year. It was after WWE allowed Shinsuke Nakamura to compete with Great Muta for the latter’s retirement match.

Further details on Charlie Dempsey’s first match in AJPW

There has been a surge of excitement among WWE fans as they see the Stamford-based company getting closer to opening the ‘Forbidden Door’. Their latest step was the announcement of sending William Regal’s son, Charlie Dempsey, to compete for the Triple Crown Championship of All Japan Pro Wrestling.

Wrestling Observer Radio has recently reported the venue and date for the anticipated match. Dempsey will compete in Japan on 3rd January 2024 at the New Year Giant Series hosted by AJPW.

For those who don’t know, WWE’s response came after a video by AJPW President Tsuyoki Fukuda. Fukuda, in the video, requested that WWE send a representative from NXT to the event. Moreover, AJPW was also teasing a mystery challenger and had referred to him as the ‘Assassin’. Dempsey is slated to face the winner of the match between Katsuhiko Nakajima and Kento Miyahara.
