You will find several unique items as you play Final Fantasy XIV, one of which might be Burning Horns. These are a rare material you can use to exchange to an NPC and receive the Phaethon mount, a massive, fiery steed that you can use to ride throughout the game. The problem will be tracking down the Burning Holes, which will be challenging. Here’s what you need to know about how to get Burning Horns in Final Fantasy XIV.

Where to find Burning Horns in Final Fantasy XIV

You can find Burning Horns by completing the Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Treasure Maps. How you go about collecting these requires you to visit the Elpis region in the Endwalker expansion and use a Botanist, Fishing, or Mining activity, while here. There’s a chance that harvesting one of these nodes will yield a treasure map, giving you the chance to take a small party and complete it.

We don’t recommend immediately going off to complete the treasure map. Instead, gather up a handful of them, which will take a good amount of time. You can only loot one of these treasure maps every 18 hours.

When you receive enough of these maps, bring some friends with you to complete them. There’s a chance a portal will appear to take you to a dungeon, and you’re going to want to bring a good handful of friends with you to complete these challenges, which contain the real rewards, for a chance for you to loot a Burning Horn.

You’ll need at least three Burning Horns to take to Nesvaaz in Radz-at-Han to exchange for the Phaethon mount. You can find the mount key offered by Nesvaaz underneath the Out-of-this-world Oddities category at coordinates (X:10.6, Y:10.0).
