How Pharrell Styles His Hats
Last night, attendees of the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party in London were treated to a very special surprise: A performance by Pharrell Williams! The singer took the stage in front of the lucky attendees, which included Bradley Cooper, Keira Knightley, Alexa Chung, and Cara Delevingne.
Although the performance was unexpected, no one was shocked to see Williams rocking some headgear. The singer gave his standby Vivienne Westwood Buffalo hat a break in favor of a more pared down felt topper with a wide brim and smaller crown. He finished the look with a navy Brioni shawl-collared blazer, a pair of light wash Levi's jeans, a white T-shirt, and colorful sneakers.
Williams's omnipresent hat first appeared at this year's Grammy Awards, where he teamed it with a pair of dark-wash jeans, a white T-shirt, and a red track jacket. Since then, we've been continually impressed and obsessed with the way the singer styles his hat. We've seen it paired with a casual ensemble, a dressier denim and blazer look, and even formalwear (à la his tuxedo and shorts at the Oscars). At last Sunday's BET Awards in Los Angeles, where the "Happy" singer won the award for best male R&B/pop artist, he paired the same hat from last night's event with a pair of jeans, a white T-shirt, a cardigan, and—wait for it—UGGs. With that he proved once and for all that he can don his hat with just about anything.
